Professor, College of Life Sciences, Peking University, China

Summary of my work

Although my research interest is mainly focused on basic science, I did some work on generating pathogen- and drought-tolerant transgenic plants (including Arabidopsis and rice) in collaboration with Dr. Haiyang Wang, my host at the Boyce Thompson Institute, Cornell.

Impacts in China

Pathogen- and drought-tolerant transgenic plants have been generated in my lab. The plants will have a direct impact on the advancement of agriculture in China when they come into use, since China is an agriculture country and loss of yield due to pathogens and drought is severe every year.
